MATTER VALUE
2024 - In Collaboration with Shaohong Tian“Deleterious consequences can be complemented by the potential value of sedimentation and the accumulation of detritus on a surface through the action of the weather. This process always marks, and these marks may be intended, even desired."

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to redevelop 136,000 square meters of Gyeonghui Palace and nearby sites into historical and cultural parks. To minimize the environmental impact of demolishing and land filling materials like masonry, concrete, and stone cladding, we propose a circular construction approach.
Our design adopts monolithic and homogeneous construction, emphasizing a limited material palette and versatile tectonic logic to facilitate material reuse and recycling. This strategy reduces waste and environmental costs while ensuring sustainability throughout the redesign process. By integrating these principles, we aim to create a cohesive and environmentally responsible transformation of this culturally significant site.
